What is carrousel turning?
For carrousel turning, the product is vertically clamped onto a clamping chuck instead of horizontally as in a traversing lathe.
What are the benefits of carrousel turning?
The carrousel turning technique has several benefits:
- Ability to machine products with a large diameter and high weight
- Machining parts without a fixed stay in contrast to a traversing lathe
Carrousel turning at AFMI
At AFMI, we can machine products on our carrousel turning lathe up to a maximum weight of 10 tonnes, a diameter of 2,100 mm and a maximum height of 1,800 mm (max z stroke of 1,000 mm).
